Attended Domestic Violence Support Groups

Teen dating violence is similar to and can be as lethal as adult relationship violence. Both include hitting, yelling, threatening, name calling and other forms of verbal, sexual, emotional and physical abuse. The number of incidents and the severity of the abuse increases as the relationship continues. Dating violence affects about one in ten teens. Very few tell anyone who could help, such as a parent a teacher, a counselor, or the police.

Moving on after any breakup is challenging, but healing after an abusive relationship can be especially difficult. All breakups may have their aftermath of sadness and loss, but for someone transitioning from victim to survivor, the fallout may include continued harassment or attacks. Why is moving on after abuse so difficult? A violence-free life is waiting, and you are so very worth it. Try different methods to avoid contacting your former partner. Delete their phone number and change yours. Resist the urge to look them up on social media.
