In 2008, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barnesville Maryland began a twinning project with S. Joseph's Catholic Church in the village of Carcasse Haiti. We strive to promote health, education, and economic development. The Pastor at St. Josephs', Pere Verdieu, has made our twinning project a joy. The many needs of the parish and the village have made this project a true challenge.
The pictures below were taken between 2008 and 2016, BEFORE THE HURRICANE. They include pictures of the Pastor , villagers, and school children of Carcasse, along with a picture of our pastor, Father Kevin O'Reilly (who personally visited Carcasse several years ago ad is very committed to this twinning relationship), and several of our Haiti Committee members, Jack Reid, the Director of the effort, Diana Snouffer who visits almost every year and is in charge of the challenge of fund raising, and our deacon, Deacon Dave Cahoon who is also a carpenter and has personally helped build the school and other buildings in Carcasse.
